Getting there

Driving

If you're driving from Klagenfurt, head north on the A2 motorway. Take the exit towards Villach and merge onto the A10. Continue on the A10 for about 30 km. Take exit 169 towards Feldkirchen/Kras. Follow the B94 road for approximately 10 km until you reach Kras. Once you enter the village, follow the signs to Krastal, which is about 3 km further into the national forest area.

Public Transportation

From Klagenfurt, take a train to Feldkirchen. Trains run regularly and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Feldkirchen, transfer to a local bus (bus line 522) that goes to Kras. The bus ride will take approximately 20 minutes. Make sure to check the local bus schedules as they may vary. Once in Kras, follow the signs to Krastal, which is about a 3 km walk into the national forest.

Taxi Services

If public transport doesn't fit your schedule, consider taking a taxi from either Klagenfurt or Feldkirchen. The taxi ride from Klagenfurt to Krastal will take about 40 minutes and may cost around €50-€70 depending on traffic. From Feldkirchen, it will take about 15 minutes and should cost around €20-€30.

Bike

For the more adventurous, consider biking to Krastal. If you are starting from Feldkirchen, you can take the scenic route along the B94, which is about 13 km. Ensure you have proper biking gear and check local bike rental options if needed.
