Getting There

• Public Transport

  From the center of Eisenstadt, make your way to the Eisenstadt train station (Bahnhof Eisenstadt). You can either walk there (approximately 15 minutes) or take a local bus that services the area. Once at the train station, catch a train heading towards Neusiedl am See and get off at Großhöflein station. Upon arrival at Großhöflein, exit the station and head south on the main road (Hauptstraße) for about 1.5 kilometers. Follow the signs for Aussichtswarte Sonnenberg, which is located on a hilltop. The path is well-marked and should take around 20-30 minutes to walk.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk directly from the center of Eisenstadt, start at the Haydnplatz. Head northeast towards the Eisenstadt Castle (Schloss Esterházy) and continue along the path leading to the eastern side of the city. Follow the signs for the hiking trail leading to Großhöflein. The hike will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and is a scenic route through the countryside, offering beautiful views of the surrounding area.

• Bike

  For those who are comfortable with cycling, rent a bike in Eisenstadt and take the cycling path towards Großhöflein. This route typically takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Großhöflein, follow the local signs to navigate to Aussichtswarte Sonnenberg, which is situated on a hilltop and accessible via bike-friendly trails.
