If you are traveling by car, start by heading south on the A10 motorway (Tauern Autobahn). Take exit 47-Werfen and follow the signs for Werfen. From the exit, continue on the B160 main road. After approximately 3 km, you will arrive at Burg Hohenwerfen, located at Burgstraße 2, 5450 Werfen. There is parking available near the castle, but a small fee may be required.
Public Transportation
To reach Burg Hohenwerfen via public transportation, take a train from Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main station) towards Bischofshofen. Alight at Werfen station, which takes around 30 minutes. From Werfen station, you can either walk to the castle (about 30-40 minutes uphill) or take the local bus (Bus 660) towards the Burg Hohenwerfen stop. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes, and a small fare is required for the bus.
