From the center of Gesäuse National Park, head towards the B146 road. Follow the B146 northbound for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for the L731. Turn right onto L731 and continue for about 8 kilometers. You will see signs for Hochwilde; follow these signs until you reach the parking area near the base of the mountain. Parking may incur a fee, typically around €5 per day.

Take a train from the nearest major city, such as Graz or Linz, to the town of Admont. From Admont, you can catch a local bus (Bus line 911) that will take you towards the Gesäuse National Park. Ensure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as services may be limited. Once you arrive at the nearest bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 2 kilometers to reach the trailhead for Hochwilde. Be prepared for a hiking trip, as this path can be steep.
