Public Transport
If you're starting from the city center (for example, Hauptplatz), walk to the nearest tram stop which is 'Hauptplatz'. Take tram line 1 towards 'Graz Mariatrost'. The tram ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Mariatrost' stop. From there, it's just a short 5-minute walk to the Mariatrost Basilica. Head straight along Kirchplatz, and you'll see the basilica ahead.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, you can start from the city center and head northeast towards Mariatrost. The distance is about 6 kilometers, which will take approximately 1.5 hours. Head towards the Lendplatz area and follow the signs for the Mariatrost district, passing through scenic streets. Keep following the signs, and you'll eventually reach Kirchplatz, where the basilica is located.
Bus
From the city center, you can also catch bus line 31 from the 'Jakominiplatz' bus terminal. The bus will take you directly to 'Mariatrost' in about 20-25 minutes. Once you get off at the 'Mariatrost' stop, head straight for about 5 minutes on Kirchplatz, and you'll find the Mariatrost Basilica.
