Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Gurktal and head towards Mariahof. Follow the signs for B94, and after approximately 10 kilometers, you will reach Mariahof. Once in Mariahof, look for signage directing you to Steinschloß. The castle is located at Steinschloß, 8812 Mariahof. There is no entry fee for the area, but ensure to park your vehicle in designated parking spaces near the castle.
Public Transportation
To reach Burgruine Steinschloß via public transport, take a local bus from Gurktal to Mariahof. Check the local bus schedules, as they can vary. Once you arrive at the Mariahof bus station, it is about a 20-minute walk to the castle. Head west on Hauptstraße, then turn onto Steinschloß road which will lead you directly to the castle. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, as the path may be uneven.
Walking
If you are in Mariahof and prefer to walk to Burgruine Steinschloß, start from the village center. Walk along Hauptstraße towards the west, and then take a left onto Steinschloß road. The walk takes approximately 20 minutes, and you'll be rewarded with lovely views of the surrounding area. It's advisable to carry a water bottle and snacks, as there are limited facilities along the way.
