Walking
From the center of Hallstatt, head towards the Hallstatt Salt Mine located on the hillside. Follow the road past the salt mine entrance and continue on the path leading towards the mountains. You will see signs for the hiking trails. Continue on the trail, which will lead you through beautiful scenery. After about a 1-hour walk, you will reach Altausseer See, which is a picturesque lake surrounded by mountains.
