Walking
From the center of Hallstatt, head towards the Hallstatt Salt Mine located on the hillside. Follow the road past the salt mine entrance and continue on the path leading towards the mountains. After about a 1-hour walk, you will reach Altausseer See, which is a picturesque lake surrounded by mountains.

From Hallstatt, walk to the Hallstatt railway station. Take the train towards Bad Ischl. After a short ride, transfer to a bus heading to Altaussee. The bus will take you directly to a stop near Altausseer See. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as service may vary.
