Walking
From the center of Hallstatt, head towards the Hallstatt Train Station. Once there, you will see the signs for the ferry terminal. Take the ferry across the Hallstätter See to Obertraun. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Obertraun ferry terminal, exit the terminal and turn left onto the main road (Obertrauner Straße). Continue walking along this road for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the sign for Dachstein Mammoth Cave, which will be on your right. Follow the signs to the cave entrance.

From the center of Hallstatt, walk to the Hallstatt Train Station. Purchase a ticket for the train to Obertraun. The train journey is only about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Obertraun station, exit the station and walk towards the main road (Obertrauner Straße). Turn left and walk for about 1.2 kilometers.
