Walking
From the center of Hallstatt, head towards the Hallstatt train station. As you exit the train station, look for the signs directing you towards the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car station. Follow the signs down the path until you reach the cable car station. Purchase a ticket for the Dachstein cable car and take it up to the Dachstein mountain area. Once you disembark, follow the signs to the Dachstein Rieseneishöhle (Dachstein Ice Cave). From Hallstatt, walk to the Hallstatt train station. Board the train towards Obertraun. The journey takes about 10 minutes.
