Getting There

  • Train and Bus

    From Hallstatt, walk to the Hallstatt train station, which is about a 10-minute walk from the center of town. Once at the station, take a train towards Werfen. The train ride will take approximately 40 minutes. Upon arriving at Werfen station, exit the train and look for the bus stop outside the station. Board the bus number 660 towards 'Eisriesenwelt' and get off at the 'Eisriesenwelt' stop. From there, it is a short walk to the entrance of Eisriesenwelt.

  • Direct Bus Transfer

    Alternatively, you can take a bus directly from Hallstatt to Werfen. First, walk to the Hallstatt bus stop located near the town center. Look for the bus number 543 that goes to Werfen. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Once in Werfen, follow the signs to the Eisriesenwelt visitor center, which is approximately a 20-minute walk from the bus stop.

  • Combination of Ferry and Train

    You can also take a scenic ferry ride from Hallstatt to the opposite side of the lake. After the ferry ride, arrive at the ferry terminal in Obertraun. From there, make your way to the Obertraun train station, which is about a 15-minute walk. Take a train from Obertraun to Werfen, which takes around 20 minutes. After reaching Werfen, transfer to the bus number 660 towards 'Eisriesenwelt' and get off at the 'Eisriesenwelt' stop.
