Walking
From the center of Hallstatt, head towards the Hallstatt train station. You can find it by walking along the main street, which runs parallel to the lake. Once you reach the Hallstatt train station, follow the signs to the ferry terminal. Take the ferry across the lake to Obertraun. The ferry ride takes about 10 minutes. Once you arrive in Obertraun, exit the ferry terminal and walk towards the Gletscherbahn (cable car) station, which is about a 15-minute walk from the terminal. Follow the signs for Gletscherbahn, and you will see the entrance to the cable car station.

First, make your way to the Hallstatt ferry terminal, which is located on the lakeside. Once at the terminal, check the ferry schedule and board the ferry that goes to Obertraun. The ferry ride is scenic and takes approximately 10 minutes. After arriving in Obertraun, disembark and walk straight towards the Gletscherbahn station, following the signs. It is roughly a 15-minute walk from the ferry terminal to the cable car station.
