Walking

From the center of Hallstatt, head towards the Hallstatt market square (Marktplatz). Once you reach the square, look for the path leading towards the funicular railway station (Seilbahnstation) which is located to the east. Take the funicular to the top of the mountain, where you will find stunning views of the Dachstein mountains. After enjoying the view, continue walking down the path that leads you to the Gosau area. Follow the signs towards Gosau, which will guide you along scenic routes through the countryside.

Bus

From Hallstatt, walk to the bus stop located near the market square (Marktplatz). Look for the bus service to Gosau, typically marked as 'Gosau' on the destination sign. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance to ensure you catch the next available bus. Once you arrive in Gosau, you can explore the area which includes beautiful landscapes and hiking trails.

Bicycle Rental

If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Hallstatt. Start by heading towards the main road (B166) from the market square. Follow the road signs towards Gosau, which will lead you through a picturesque route alongside the river.
