Public Transport
From Innsbruck city center, head to the Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof (main train station). Look for the Nordkettenbahn tram stop, which is easily accessible from the main entrance. Take the Nordkettenbahn tram (Line 1) in the direction of 'Hungerburg'. The tram ride takes approximately 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Hungerburg stop, follow the signs to the Nordkette cable car station, which is a short walk uphill. The cable car will take you directly up to the Nordkette mountain range.
Walking
If you're up for a scenic walk, you can make your way to Nordkette from the city center. Start at the Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl) in the Old Town. Head north on Herzog-Friedrich-Straße until you reach the Inn river. Cross the bridge (Innbrücke) and continue walking along the riverbank until you reach the Nordkette cable car station in Hungerburg. This route will take about 45 minutes to an hour and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
Taxi
If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Innsbruck directly to the Nordkette cable car station in Hungerburg. Taxis are readily available in the city center and at the Hauptbahnhof. The drive will take approximately 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Let the driver know your destination: 'Nordkette Seilbahn'.
