Car
To reach Hohljoch by car, start from Innsbruck, which is the nearest major city. Head north on the A12 motorway towards the town of Pertisau. Follow signs for the Karwendel Mountains. Once you reach Pertisau, take the B181 road towards the Achensee lake. Continue on this road until you reach the turnoff for the Hohljoch. There is limited parking available near the pass. Please note that parking fees may apply, so be prepared with change or a parking card.
Public Transportation
To reach Hohljoch using public transportation, start at Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof (main train station). Take the train to Jenbach, which is the nearest train station to Hohljoch. From Jenbach, transfer to the bus that goes to Pertisau (Bus line 35). Once you arrive in Pertisau, you may need to hike or arrange for a taxi to reach the Hohljoch area, as direct public transport does not go all the way to the pass. Ensure to check the local bus schedules in advance, as they may vary seasonally.
Hiking
If you are already in the Karwendel Mountains and prefer to hike to Hohljoch, start from Pertisau. Follow the marked hiking trails leading towards Hohljoch. This hike can take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking gear, bring water, and check the weather conditions before embarking on your journey.
