Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car from Lake Neusiedl, you will need to take the A4 motorway towards Vienna. Follow the A4 for approximately 40 km until you reach the exit for Wien Zentrum. Once you exit, follow the signs toward the city center (Innere Stadt). You will eventually arrive at Josefsplatz, where the Austrian National Library, State Hall is located. Be mindful of parking regulations; there are parking garages nearby but expect to pay for parking.

• Train

  For those using public transportation, take a regional train from Lake Neusiedl (Neusiedl am See station) to Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna Central Station). The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Upon arrival at Wien Hauptbahnhof, transfer to the U1 subway line (red line) towards Stephansplatz. Get off at Stephansplatz station and transfer to the U3 line (orange line) towards Ottakring. Get off at the next stop, Volkstheater, and walk approximately 10 minutes to Josefsplatz where the Austrian National Library, State Hall is located. The total cost for the train ticket is around €7-€9.

• Bus

  Alternatively, you can take a bus from Lake Neusiedl to Vienna. Look for bus services that head to Wien Erdberg (you may need to check local schedules). From Erdberg, take the U3 subway line towards Stephansplatz. Get off at the Volkstheater station and walk approximately 10 minutes to reach Josefsplatz, home to the Austrian National Library, State Hall. The bus fare is typically around €5-€7.
