Palais Lobkowitz: A Baroque Jewel in Vienna

Palais Lobkowitz, also known as Palais Dietrichstein-Lobkowitz, stands as one of Vienna's oldest and most significant Baroque palaces. Located in the Innere Stadt (Inner City), the palace is a short walk from other major attractions like the Hofburg Palace and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Its construction, completed in 1694, marked a shift in Vienna's architectural focus after the Battle of Vienna, as the aristocracy began investing in cultural projects. Beethoven's Third Symphony, the 'Eroica,' was first performed here in 1804, in the hall now known as the Eroica Hall. Today, Palais Lobkowitz houses the Theater Museum of the Austrian National Library, with exhibits on the history of performing arts.
