    If you're near a subway station, take the U2 line (the purple line) towards 'Karlsplatz'. Get off at 'Karlsplatz' station. Once you exit, follow the signs for 'Oper' and then head towards the Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera). From the opera house, walk north towards the 'Ringstraße'. Continue walking along the Ringstraße until you see the entrance to Josefsplatz on your right.

    Locate a tram stop near you. Take the tram line 1 (the red line) or line 2 (the green line) towards 'Schottentor' or 'St. Marx'. Get off at the stop 'Burgring'. Once you disembark, head east towards the Hofburg Palace and walk through the Burgtor (the main gate). Josefsplatz will be directly ahead as you enter the courtyard.
