    From Vienna, take a train to Wiener Neustadt, then transfer to a regional train to Puchberg am Schneeberg. From Puchberg, take the Schneebergbahn cog railway up to Hochschneeberg. From the mountain station, the Fischerhütte is a 60 to 80-minute walk. Train fare from Vienna to Puchberg: Approximately €20-30. Schneebergbahn round trip: Approximately €41.

  • Car and Hiking

    Drive to Puchberg am Schneeberg and park near the Schneebergbahn valley station. Parking fees range from €5-€10 per day. Take the Schneebergbahn cog railway up to Hochschneeberg. From the mountain station, the Fischerhütte is a 60 to 80-minute walk. Alternatively, for experienced hikers, several trails lead from the valley to the Fischerhütte, with the most demanding ascent gaining 1,482m in altitude from Weichtalhaus. Parking near Schneebergbahn: €5-€10 per day.

Over the years, it has been expanded and modernized, with additions including electricity, telephone service, and a supply route from the cog railway.Today, the Fischerhütte offers comfortable accommodations, hearty Austrian meals, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It's an ideal base for exploring the surrounding peaks, including the Kaiserstein and Klosterwappen, the highest point in Lower Austria. The hut is typically open from mid-May to late October or early November, depending on weather conditions. Reservations for overnight stays are recommended and can be made online.
