    From Salzburg Cathedral, walk west through the Residenzplatz towards the Sigmundstor (Neutor). Pass through the tunnel and continue straight onto Gstättengasse. The Mönchsberg Elevator valley station will be on your left, approximately a 10-minute walk. No costs involved.

The original lift, built along the mountain's flank, was considered the highest in Europe at the time.
