Majestic Burg Hohenwerfen: A Journey Through Time

Getting There

• Train

  From Salzburg, head to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station). You can take a local tram or bus to get there if needed. Once at the train station, purchase a ticket for the next train to Werfen, which typically takes around 30 minutes. Look for the platform number on the electronic boards. Once you arrive at Werfen station, exit the station and turn left. You will see a sign directing you to the Burg Hohenwerfen. Follow the road uphill for about 20 minutes until you reach the castle entrance.

• Bus

  From Salzburg, go to the Salzburg Hauptbahnhof and look for the bus station next to the train station. Take the bus line 660 towards Werfen. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive in Werfen, get off at the 'Werfen' bus stop. From there, follow the signs leading to Burg Hohenwerfen, which is about a 25-minute walk uphill.

• Walking

  If you are already in Werfen or nearby, find your way to Burgstraße. Follow this street toward the castle. It is a steep walk, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. The walk will take about 30 minutes from the center of Werfen. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards Burg Hohenwerfen, and enjoy the scenic views as you make your way to the castle.
