Discover more about Giggijochbahn Sölden

The Giggijochbahn is more than just a lift; it's a portal to the stunning Ötztal Alps, rising to an elevation of 2,283 meters. Located in Sölden, a premier ski destination, the Giggijochbahn is a vital access point to a vast network of slopes and trails. The original lift, built in 1977 and replaced in 1998, was again upgraded in 2016 with a modern, high-capacity 10-person gondola. This upgrade significantly increased the lift's capacity to 4,500 people per hour, setting a new standard for efficiency and comfort. The architectural design, created by Johann Obermoser, features panoramic windows and spacious cabins, enhancing the overall visitor experience. The valley station's slender, tower-like structure minimizes its footprint, while the mountain station boasts an open design that blends into the landscape. In winter, the Giggijochbahn is a crucial artery for skiers and snowboarders, providing access to well-groomed pistes and challenging terrain. It also connects to other parts of the Sölden ski area, including the glacier slopes of Rettenbach and Tiefenbach. In the summer months, the Giggijochbahn provides access to hiking and mountain biking trails that wind through alpine landscapes. The Giggijoch area also features the AREA 47 Snowpark Sölden, a freestyle park with obstacles for all skill levels. The Giggijoch mountain station is characterized by its open and transparent design in the form of a foil-covered steel construction, which allows the dimensions of the station to disappear into the landscape. The 134 cabins are stored in the weather protection structure above the station level. A new tunnel connects the Giggijoch restaurant, 200 meters away, with the mountain station and ensures supply and disposal regardless of the weather.
