Discover more about Vogelhaus

Located within the Blumengärten Hirschstetten, the Vogelhaus is a spacious aviary dedicated to showcasing Austria's native birdlife. Opened in 2019, the 1,200 square meter birdhouse aims to educate visitors about the diverse aspects of the local avian world. Inside, visitors can observe various bird species, including woodpeckers, goldfinches, greenfinches and house sparrows. The aviary is carefully planted with trees and shrubs that are native to the region, such as rowan, elder, apple berry, sea buckthorn, and hazel, providing a natural habitat for the birds. Tothölzer (deadwood), which are essential for woodpeckers and insects, are also incorporated into the design. Informative panels provide details about garden birds, habitats, feeding plants, beak shapes, and winter feeding. The Vogelhaus also works with the Haringsee Bird Station, taking in birds that can no longer be released into the wild after recovery, ensuring their survival.
