If driving, follow the B33 along the Danube. Approaching from Melk or Krems, look for signs for Aggsbach Dorf. In Aggsbach Dorf, turn towards Maria Langegg, then follow signs for Aggstein. The road winds uphill directly to the castle. Parking is available near the entrance. Parking is free.

From Melk or Krems, take VOR bus line 720 to the 'Aggstein Nord' stop. From there, it's approximately a 2km uphill walk to the castle through the Herrenwald forest. The bus ride from Melk to Groisbach Bundesstraße (close to Aggstein Nord) takes about 12 minutes. A single bus fare costs between €3-€11.
