    While direct public transport to Krug is limited, take a train to Gmünd. From Gmünd, take a bus towards Pölla and alight in Altpölla. Follow the Schauensteinweg hiking trail (4km, approximately 1 hour) to the ruins. A single bus fare from Gmünd to Altpölla is approximately €4-6.

  • Walking

    From Krug, follow the well-marked hiking path uphill towards Ruine Schauenstein. The path is approximately 800 meters long and takes around 20-30 minutes to walk. The trail is moderately steep in places. No special equipment is needed, but sturdy footwear is recommended.
