Discover more about Pyramidenkogel Tower

The Pyramidenkogel Tower, soaring 100 meters high, is more than just an observation point; it's a modern architectural marvel and a symbol of Carinthia, Austria. Located atop the 851-meter-high Pyramidenkogel mountain, near Lake Wörthersee, the tower offers breathtaking panoramic views stretching from the Hohe Tauern to the Karawanken mountains and beyond into Italy and Slovenia. The tower's history is layered. A wooden observation platform was first built on the mountain in 1950, along with a cross to commemorate war victims. In the late 1960s, a 54-meter-tall steel and concrete tower was erected, becoming a popular, futuristic attraction. This was then replaced in 2013 with the current wooden structure, a design that resembles a 'ladder into heaven made of stacked ellipses'. Visitors can ascend the tower via a panoramic lift or by climbing 441 steps. Once at the top, three viewing platforms offer stunning perspectives. For a thrilling descent, take Europe's longest covered slide, spiraling down 120 meters at speeds up to 25 km/h. The tower also features a restaurant serving regional and international dishes, a souvenir shop, and a playground. The structure is designed to be barrier-free.
