Discover more about Elisabethpark

Elisabethpark, a jewel in the heart of Zell am See, is a meticulously landscaped park offering visitors a tranquil retreat with breathtaking views of Lake Zell and the surrounding Alps. Named in honor of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, affectionately known as Sisi, the park serves as a tribute to her legacy and the region's rich history. The park's location is significant, as it was once the site of the grand Hotel Elisabeth, a luxurious establishment that hosted numerous noblemen and noblewomen, including members of the Habsburg family. The hotel marked the beginning of tourism in Zell am See in 1879. The hotel had 56 luxurious rooms with running water, a billiard room, as well as ladies' and music salons. After the Great Exhibition the hotel was dismantled and transported by railway to Zell am See which had been part of the newly built railway line between Salzburg and Tyrol since 1875. Unfortunately, the Hotel Elisabeth came to a dramatic end and had to be demolished by 1915. Due to railway expansions, the hotel was replaced by the park. As you enter Elisabethpark, you are immediately greeted by vibrant flowerbeds showcasing a kaleidoscope of colors that change with the seasons. Manicured gardens and towering trees create a serene atmosphere, inviting visitors to stroll along the winding paths and soak in the natural beauty. Benches are strategically placed throughout the park, offering ample opportunities to sit back, relax, and admire the stunning scenery. The crystal-clear waters of Lake Zell reflect the majestic peaks of the Alps, creating a picture-perfect backdrop for leisurely walks and quiet contemplation. One of the park's most notable features is the Weyringer sculptures, created by the renowned sculptor and painter Johann Weyringer. These sculptures—an eagle, an ibex, and a flower—symbolize the natural diversity of the region and serve as an artistic monument to environmental protection. Elisabethpark is also famous for the Zeller Seezauber, a spectacular fountain and light show that takes place on the lake in front of the park. This mesmerizing display combines water, music, lasers, and lights to create a magical experience for all ages. During the day, smaller water shows occur hourly, while the grand evening performances transform the park into a vibrant hub of entertainment.
