Getting There

  • Public Transport

    To reach Steinbock.Welten using public transport, begin at Mayrhofen. Take the bus towards Zillergrund. The bus will take you through Brandberg to Bärenbad. From Bärenbad, you can either walk or take another bus to the head of the dam. From the dam, it's about an hour's walk to the Plauener Hütte, close to Steinbock.Welten. Bus line 8328 goes to Zillergrund Dam from Mayrhofen. A round trip costs €18.80. A bus from Bärenbad to the reservoir costs €5.80 for a round trip.

  • Driving

    If driving, navigate to Zillergrund from Mayrhofen. A toll road runs from the Nature Park's Maurach parking lot (after the Brandberg Tunnel) to Bärenbad. From Bärenbad, you can either walk or take the bus to the head of the dam. The toll for cars is €10. Buses are the only vehicles allowed past Bärenbad to the top of the dam wall.
