Getting There

  • Car

    The Zillertaler Höhenstraße is primarily accessed by car. From the Zillertal valley, take one of the five access roads from Ried, Kaltenbach, Aschau, Zellberg or Hippach. Be prepared for a toll. As of 2025, the toll for cars up to 6 people is €10. The road is well-maintained but can be narrow in places. Note that only cash is accepted at the toll booths.

  • Public Transport

    Several bus lines connect the towns in the Zillertal valley with access points to the Zillertaler Höhenstraße. From Fügen, take bus line 8330 towards Hochfügen. From Mayrhofen, bus lines C, D, H1, and H2 provide access to the base of the Höhenstraße. From there, a hiking bus can take you further up the mountain. A return ticket on the hiking bus to Almgasthof Zirmstadl/Platzlalm costs €13 for adults and €6.50 for children (6-15 years).
