    The Heydar Mosque, located in Baku, Azerbaijan, is a testament to modern Islamic architectural brilliance. Completed in 2014, the mosque is named in honor of Heydar Aliyev, the former President of Azerbaijan. This grand structure, the largest mosque in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus, is a symbol of peace, tolerance, and unity.The mosque's architecture blends the Shirvan-Absheron style with contemporary elements. Its facade is made of special stone, with intricate patterns and carvings. Four 95-meter-high minarets surround the mosque, and the main dome reaches 55 meters, while a secondary dome rises to 35 meters. Verses from the Quran embellish the edges of the domes. The interior features marble and wood decorations, illuminated by gilded chandeliers and covered with traditional Azerbaijani carpets styled after the famous Sheikh Safi carpet.Covering a total area of 12,000 square meters, the mosque can accommodate both Sunni and Shia Muslims. The surrounding area includes landscaped gardens, fountains, and sculptures, creating a welcoming space for visitors. The mosque is particularly enchanting at sunset when the soft light illuminates its white facade.
