Nohur Gol, or Nohur Lake, is a captivating destination offering a peaceful escape in the Gabala region of Azerbaijan. Situated 5 km east of Gabala city, this man-made reservoir is cradled by the majestic Caucasus Mountains, with the towering peaks of Gulluburun, Goydag, and Yumuru creating a dramatic backdrop.Originally a natural lake, Nohur Gol was transformed into a reservoir in 1949 to provide irrigation for the surrounding areas. Today, it is a top tourist attraction, offering natural beauty and a range of outdoor activities throughout the year. The lake spans 240 hectares and reaches a maximum depth of 24 meters, fed by freshwater springs and the Damiraparan and Vandam rivers.Visitors can enjoy boat rides on the calm waters, fish with a permit, explore hiking trails, or have a picnic amidst the scenic surroundings. The lake's shoreline is dotted with cafes and restaurants, offering traditional Azerbaijani cuisine and stunning views. While swimming is not recommended due to reservoir regulations, the serene atmosphere and diverse activities make it a must-visit destination.
