The stadium was the home ground for Khazar Lankaran FK, a now-dissolved football club that won the Azerbaijan Premier League title in 2006–07 and the Azerbaijan Cup three times. The stadium fostered a strong connection between the team and its dedicated fan base. Beyond domestic competitions, Khazar Lankaran Central Stadium gained UEFA approval for international football games on July 17, 2009. It hosted its first senior international match on September 5, 2009, between Azerbaijan and Finland. The stadium also served as one of the venues for the group stages of the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Even though Khazar Lankaran FK dissolved in 2016, the stadium continues to host various events, including concerts and community gatherings.
