Discover more about Bahrain National Theater

The Bahrain National Theater, inaugurated in November 2012 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is a cultural landmark in Manama. Situated on the Shaikh Hamad Causeway, adjacent to the Bahrain National Museum, its location creates a vibrant cultural hub accessible to locals and tourists. Covering approximately 12,000 square meters, the theater is one of the largest in the Arab world and the third-largest opera house in the Middle East. Its architecture, designed by Architecture-Studio with Atkins as the local consultant, symbolizes the union between Bahrain and the sea. The building's cubic glass shape and golden-colored roof evoke an 'Arabian Nights' theme. The theater has two main performance spaces: a 1,001-seat auditorium for large-scale productions and a smaller 150-seat studio theater for experimental performances. The main auditorium enhances the actor-audience relationship with excellent sightlines and acoustics. The interior is clad with acoustically treated Canadian Elmwood, reminiscent of a traditional pearling dhow. Since its opening, the Bahrain National Theater has hosted many international artists and local cultural activities. It is a symbol of Bahrain's commitment to cultural development and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in experiencing Bahrain's vibrant cultural scene.
