Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Fort, also known as Riffa Fort or Qal'at ar-Riffa, is located in the eastern part of Riffa, Bahrain. Perched on a cliff, the fort overlooks the valley between East and West Riffa. The site's history dates back to the 17th century, with the first fortification likely built then. In 1812, Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh of the Al Khalifa family rebuilt the fort on the old foundations, using it as both a residence and a defensive structure. In 1848, Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, who ruled Bahrain from 1869 to 1932, was born in the fort. The fort features a square ground plan with circular and rectangular towers. Inside, there are three courtyards. The fort was restored at the end of the 20th century and opened to the public. Visitors can explore the fort and the museum, which showcases architectural details made of gypsum. The fort also offers panoramic views of the Hunanaiya Valley.
