Designed by Danish architects Krohn & Hartvig Rasmussen, the museum's modern architecture harmonizes with the serene Arabian Sea backdrop. The museum complex consists of two interconnected buildings spanning 20,000 square meters. Inside, you'll discover a wealth of artifacts and exhibits spread across six main halls. Three halls are dedicated to archaeology, focusing on the ancient Dilmun civilization with its burial mounds, pottery, and seals. Two halls vividly depict Bahrain's pre-industrial culture and lifestyle, showcasing traditional trades, crafts, and customs. The Natural History Hall displays the island's diverse flora and fauna.Highlights include a reassembled burial mound, a tableau from the Epic of Gilgamesh referencing Dilmun, and ancient Quranic manuscripts. The Hall of Customs and Traditions explores Bahraini ceremonies, religious beliefs, and traditional medicine. The Tylos and Islam Hall features pottery, glassware and jewelry from Bahrain's Tylos period. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and houses an art gallery, lecture hall, gift shop, and café.Located on the Shaikh Hamad Causeway in Manama, the museum is easily accessible and offers ample parking. It is a must-see destination for those seeking to understand Bahrain's rich heritage and cultural significance.
