Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Fort, also known as Riffa Fort or Qal'at ar-Riffa, is a majestic fortress located in the eastern part of Riffa, Bahrain. Built in 1812 by Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al-Fateh Al Khalifa, it provides a unique insight into Bahrain's cultural heritage and the legacy of the Al Khalifa family. In 1812, Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh reconstructed the fort, utilizing the old foundations. Unlike other forts in Bahrain, it served as both a defensive structure and a residence for the Al Khalifa family. Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Bahraini ruler, was born here in 1848. The fort consists of a square ground plan with circular and rectangular towers. Inside, there are three courtyards. At the end of the 20th century, the fort was restored and opened to visitors. Today, visitors can explore the fort and the museum within. The museum showcases architectural details crafted from gypsum, offering insight into the fort's history and cultural significance. The fort also hosts cultural events and exhibitions.
