Jaflong: Daughter of Nature
Discover Jaflong: A picturesque border town in Sylhet with stunning hills, clear rivers, and vibrant Khasi culture.
Jaflong, often called the 'Daughter of Nature,' is a captivating tourist spot in the Sylhet division of Bangladesh. Situated at the foothills of the Khasi and Jaintia hills, along the Bangladesh-India border, it offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences. For centuries, Jaflong was a deserted forest under the Khasia Jainta kings. The stone trade expanded, and new settlements formed. Today, Jaflong attracts visitors with its stunning views of the Meghalaya hills, cascading waterfalls, and the Piyain River. The river is known for its crystal-clear water, allowing visitors to see the colorful stones beneath the surface. These stones, carried down from the Indian mountains, add texture to the tranquil scenery. Key attractions include Zero Point, the India-Bangladesh border, offering views of the Meghalaya hills. The Mayabi Waterfall (Songram Punji) is a short walk from Zero Point and is most vibrant during the monsoon. Visitors can also explore tea gardens and Khasia villages to experience the local culture. The Dawki Bridge, built by the British in 1932, is another notable landmark. Whether you seek tranquility, adventure, or cultural immersion, Jaflong offers a memorable escape into the heart of nature.
