Discover the Serene Beauty of Maycocks Bay
Discover the allure of Harrison's Point Lighthouse in Barbados: a historic beacon offering panoramic ocean views, rugged coastal beauty, and a glimpse into the island's maritime past.
Harrison's Point Lighthouse, perched on the rugged northern coast of St. Lucy, Barbados, offers a captivating blend of history and scenic beauty. Built in 1925, it was the last of the island's four major lighthouses, guiding ships away from the treacherous coastline. Though no longer operational since 2006, the 85-foot cylindrical concrete tower remains a striking landmark. Visitors can explore the abandoned structure, ascend the spiral staircase (with caution), and witness panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The site also holds historical significance, having once hosted a U.S. naval facility during the Cold War and later serving as a temporary prison. Today, it's a serene spot for photographers, nature lovers, and those seeking a glimpse into Barbados' maritime past, offering a unique off-the-beaten-path experience.
