Designed by Barbadian artist Don Small in collaboration with world-renowned muralist John Pugh, the mural employs the 'trompe l'oeil' technique to create a stunning three-dimensional illusion.The mural serves as a visual chronicle of Barbados, weaving together elements of its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and historical milestones. It depicts scenes from Harrison's Cave, one of the island's most famous natural attractions, blending seamlessly into historical representations such as the raising of Barbados' flag at Independence. Green monkeys, native to the island, overlook traditional chattel houses, while depictions of the original Amerindian inhabitants pay homage to the island's earliest settlers. Symbols of independence are interwoven with images of fishing boats, representing the island's close relationship with the sea.
