Main Guard House and Clock Tower: A Step Back in Time

The Main Guard House and Clock Tower, located in the Garrison Historic Area of Bridgetown, is a significant landmark that embodies Barbados' rich military history. Constructed in the early 1800s, the building initially served as a military installation, housing the headquarters of the British West India Regiment. The Garrison area itself was established in 1780 and was the largest in the British Colonies during the 18th and 19th centuries. The Main Guard House also features a collection of historically important cannons, with Barbados boasting one of the best collections of 17th-century cannons in the world.
