Once a sugar plantation struggling to thrive, the property was transformed in the 1980s into a botanical paradise, opening to the public in December 1983. Spanning 53 acres, the Flower Forest is neither a formal botanical garden nor a rugged nature trail, but a harmonious blend of both. Visitors can wander along paved walkways, shaded by towering Caribbean Royal Palms, and discover a kaleidoscope of colorful flowers, exotic plants, and tranquil vistas. The imaginative landscaping incorporates flora from across the West Indies and other tropical regions, creating a diverse and captivating environment. The gardens offer a sensory feast, with dazzling tropical colors, fragrant blossoms, the songs of native birds, and gentle country breezes. And in 2017, the kitchen was renovated, and handicap-accessible facilities, including bathrooms, were added.
