    From Gent-Sint-Pieters railway station, take tram line 1 in the direction of 'Korenmarkt'. Alight at 'Korenmarkt'. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to Sint-Veerleplein. Historically, Sint-Veerleplein was the location of the Sint-Veerlekerk church, of which remains were discovered during renovations of the Old Fish Market. From 1407 to the end of the 18th century, the square served as a place of justice, where criminals, including counterfeiters, were punished. Notably, nine leaders of the Ghent Uprising were beheaded here in 1540. Today, Sint-Veerleplein is a lively and inviting space.
