Discover more about Stadspark

Stadspark, a 14-hectare (35-acre) green space in the heart of Antwerp, provides a tranquil escape from the city's vibrant energy. Constructed on the site of a former Spanish fortification known as Fort Herentals, the park was designed in the English style by architect E. Van Cuyck and landscape architect E. Keilig, opening in 1869. The park features a picturesque pond, which partly traces the former fort's moat, crossed by a white pedestrian bridge constructed in 1869. This iron suspension bridge, integrated into artificial rock masses, offers one of the few elevated viewpoints in the city. Stadspark is home to various statues and a World War I monument, as well as a World War II bunker. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the winding paths, relax on benches, or have a picnic on the manicured lawns. The park also includes a playground for children and dedicated sports areas. Stadspark is easily accessible and surrounded by cafes and eateries, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing afternoon.
