L'envol - A Tribute to Jacques Brel in Brussels

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Antwerp Central Station, exit the station and head towards the main entrance. Once outside, turn left onto the Meir, a pedestrian shopping street. Walk straight along the Meir until you reach the end of the street where it merges into the Haverstraat. Continue walking straight through Haverstraat, and then take a right onto the Stadswaag. Walk until you reach the Groenplaats, a large square. At Groenplaats, turn left onto the Schuttershofstraat, then take a right onto the Huidevettersstraat. Follow this street until you reach the Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal). From the Cathedral, head towards the Grote Markt and then take a tram from the Groenplaats tram stop towards Brussels. Get off at the final stop, Gare Centrale. From there, it is a 10-minute walk to Pl. de la Vieille Halle aux Blés 10-12, where the statue of Jacques Brel is located.

• Tram

  From the central area of Antwerp, make your way to the nearest tram stop, which is likely to be at Groenplaats. Board Tram 9 or Tram 11 towards 'Brussels'. After approximately 45 minutes, disembark at the 'Gare Centrale' stop in Brussels. Once you exit the tram, walk east towards Rue de la Loi and take a left onto Pl. de la Vieille Halle aux Blés. Continue walking until you reach the address 10-12, where you will find L'envol - Statue de Jacques Brel.

• Metro

  If you are near the Opera House in Antwerp, walk to the nearest metro station, which is 'Antwerpen Opera'. Take Metro Line 2 towards 'Brussels'. After about 30 minutes, get off at 'Brussels North' station. From there, transfer to Metro Line 5 towards 'Brussels Central'. Alight at 'Brussels Central' station. Once you are at Brussels Central, exit the station and walk towards Pl. de la Vieille Halle aux Blés 10-12, where the Statue of Jacques Brel is located. It should take you around 10 minutes to walk from the station.
