Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the city center of Ghent, start at the Korenmarkt square, which is a popular meeting point. From Korenmarkt, head towards the St. Nicholas Church, which is located just across the square. Once you reach St. Nicholas Church, walk straight down the Sint-Veerleplein street until you reach the Gravensteen Castle, which will be on your left side. Continue walking straight along the street, and you will reach the river. Cross the bridge and follow the path along the riverbank. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will come to the train station (Gent-Sint-Pieters). From there, take a train to Bruges; trains run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Upon arriving at Bruges train station, exit the station and head towards the bus stop located just outside. You can take bus number 1 or 4 to the city center. Get off at the 'Brugge Markt' stop. From there, it’s a short 5-minute walk to Sint-Jakobsplein. You will see St James' Church right at the square.

    From the center of Ghent, you can take tram line 1 from the stop 'Gent Dampoort' towards 'Brugge'. The tram will take you directly to the Bruges city center. Once you arrive at the Bruges train station, transfer to a local bus (number 1 or 4) heading towards the center, and get off at 'Brugge Markt'. From the market, walk straight until you reach Sint-Jakobsplein, where St James' Church is located. This option is convenient if you prefer to avoid walking long distances.
