Discover more about Stadspark

Stadspark, a 14-hectare (35-acre) green space in the heart of Antwerp, provides a tranquil escape from the urban hustle. This triangular park, bordered by Rubenslei, Van Eycklei, and Quinten Matsijslei, is the only park located in the city center. Originally the site of Fort Herentals, part of Antwerp's Spanish fortifications, the park was created between 1867 and 1869 by architect E. Van Cuyck. Landscape architect E. Keilig designed the park in the English style. The park features a pond, which partly follows the lines of the former fort's moat, and a white pedestrian bridge built in 1869 adds to the picturesque scenery. Today, Stadspark is a popular destination for relaxation and recreation. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the winding paths, admire the statues and monuments, or simply relax on a bench. The park also includes a playground, making it a family-friendly destination. Keep an eye out for the World War II bunker, a remnant from the park's past. The park hosts cultural events and community gatherings, adding to its vibrant atmosphere.
