This classified monument, a fortified farmhouse (ferme-château), dates back to 1619 and overlooks the picturesque Semois River. Historically, the site was strategically important, serving as a lookout point for warriors guarding the Semois River crossing. The castle's construction in the early 17th century occurred during a turbulent period following the religious wars and the imperialistic conflicts of the French kings. The side wing that faces the street features a monumental gate. The triangular pediment bears the coat of arms of the Duchesne de Ruville - Thibault family, adorned with garlands and oak leaves. Today, the Château de Dohan is owned by Jean-Etienne Hallet, who has been instrumental in preserving the banks of the Semois, the Frahan site, and the Tomb of the Giant. Visitors can admire the charming facades, well-maintained gardens, and pathways, offering a peaceful retreat. The site is ideal for leisurely walks and soaking in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
