Getting There
Walking
From the city center of Ghent, head towards the Sint-Pietersstation (train station). Exit the station and walk towards the tram stop just outside. Take tram line 1 towards 'Schaerbeek' or tram line 4 towards 'Brussels'. After about 30 minutes, disembark at the stop 'Brussels Central'. From there, follow the signs for the Grote Markt, which is approximately a 10-minute walk. Head towards the Rue de la Madeleine and continue straight until you reach the square.
Bus
Make your way to the nearest bus stop in Ghent, such as 'Korenmarkt'. Take bus line 25 towards 'Brussels'. This bus will take you directly to Brussels. Upon arrival at Brussels, get off at the stop 'Brussels Central'. From there, walk for about 10 minutes following signs to the Grote Markt, located in the heart of Brussels.
Train
Start at Ghent St. Pieters Train Station. Purchase a ticket to Brussels Central. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Brussels Central, exit the station and follow the signs for the Grote Markt, which is a short 10-minute walk away. You can walk straight down the main road, passing the Royal Palace, and continue until you reach the iconic square.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike in Ghent. Head towards the city exit and follow the designated bike lanes towards Brussels. The distance is approximately 55 kilometers, so it’s a longer journey. Once you arrive in Brussels, follow the signs to the city center and the Grote Markt, which is a prominent landmark.
