The park's name comes from a romantic legend about Minna and Stromberg, two ill-fated lovers. Once a part of the city's docks, the lake served as a reservoir and played a crucial role in Bruges' water management and transportation system, connecting the city to the sea.
Today, Minnewater Park provides a tranquil escape from the bustling city center. Walking
From the Markt (city center), head southeast on Steenstraat, continuing straight until you reach the Minnewater lake. The entrance to Minnewater Park will be on your left at Minnewater 1/15. The walk is approximately 20 minutes. No cost is involved.
Public Transport
From Bruges Central Station, exit the station and walk towards the bus terminal. Take bus line 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 20, 40, 50, or 59 towards a stop near Minnewater. Get off at the 'Minnewater' stop or 'Brugge Station Perron A1', which are a short walk to the park entrance at Minnewater 1/15. A single trip costs €3 when purchased in advance at a kiosk, and €3.50 if bought from the bus driver.
