Walking
If you are starting from the Nieuwpoort city center, head north on the main street, Marktplein, until you reach the roundabout. From there, take the second exit onto N8. Continue walking straight until you reach the train station, which should take about 15-20 minutes. From the station, board a train heading to Ostend (Oostende). The train journey will take approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Ostend station, exit the station and turn left onto Oosteroever. Walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach Vlaanderenstraat. Turn right onto Vlaanderenstraat, and The James Ensor House will be on your left at number 29.
Bicycle
If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bicycle in Nieuwpoort. Start your journey by heading towards the coastal bike path that runs along the beach. Follow the path towards Ostend. After about 8 kilometers, you will reach Ostend. Once in Ostend, continue cycling until you reach Vlaanderenstraat. Turn left onto Vlaanderenstraat, and The James Ensor House will be on your left at number 29.
Public Transport
To reach The James Ensor House using public transport, walk to the Nieuwpoort bus station located in the city center. Take the bus number 66 or 67 heading towards Ostend. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Oostende Station'. From the bus stop, walk towards the Ostend train station and then follow the previous walking directions: exit the station, turn left onto Oosteroever, continue straight for about 10 minutes, turn right onto Vlaanderenstraat, and The James Ensor House will be on your left at number 29.
