Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Valkenburg and head northeast on the N590. Continue on this road for about 4 kilometers. You will pass through the village of Houthem-St. Gerlach. After approximately 4 kilometers, take the exit toward Cadier en Keer. Once in Cadier en Keer, follow the signs for Savelsbos. There is parking available near the entrance of the nature preserve. Be sure to check for any parking fees, which may be applicable.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, begin at Valkenburg train station. Take the train towards Maastricht and get off at the Cadier en Keer station (approximately a 10-minute journey). From the station, you can either walk to Savelsbos, which is about a 15-minute walk (head south on the N590, then follow the signs to Savelsbos), or you can check for local bus services that may take you closer to the nature preserve. Note that bus schedules may vary, so it is advisable to check in advance. There may be a small fare for the train and any bus services.

• Walking

  If you prefer walking from Valkenburg, it's about a 45-minute to 1-hour walk. Start from the city center and head northeast towards the N590. Follow this road for approximately 4 kilometers towards Cadier en Keer. Once you reach Cadier en Keer, look for signs directing you to Savelsbos. The scenic route will take you through beautiful countryside, but be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
